What it needs

Answers to the questions people actually ask are below.

  • A laptop or desktop

Windows, Mac, Linux or a Chromebook. A keyboard and mouse or trackpad; a controller works too.

  • A recent browser

Chrome, Edge or Firefox, with its 3D graphics (WebGL2) switched on. It is on by default in all three.

  • One first load

The first visit downloads the neighbourhood once. After that your browser keeps it and the game opens in seconds.

  • Nothing else

No install, no launcher, no account, no email, no payment.

What’s inside

A whole neighbourhood of Bengaluru, laid out from the real street map and squeezed to fit a game.

Ride scooters and autos, drive the city bus, a water tanker or an ambulance. Play twelve missions as a new delivery rider, take odd jobs, race on the streets, lose the police, change the radio station, and get caught in the rain when it rains in the real city. Type cheat codes, most of them Kannada words. Press O for photo mode, B to save your last 15 seconds as a video.

More: every vehicle, the missions, the jobs, the map, all the cheats.

Questions

Is it really free?
Yes. Benglooru is free to play in your browser. There is nothing to buy inside it either.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Open benglooru.com/play and press Play. The game streams into your browser; nothing is installed on your computer.
Does it work on a Mac or a Chromebook?
Yes, in Chrome, Edge or Firefox, the browsers it is tested on.
Will it run on a low-end laptop?
Most recent laptops run it. On older machines the game lowers its own quality to stay smooth. If it will not start, switch on hardware acceleration in your browser’s settings and close other heavy tabs.
Can I play on my phone?
Not yet. It needs a keyboard or a controller. On a phone, the website’s Send to my laptop button puts the link where you will find it later.
Can I drive anywhere?
Anywhere in the neighbourhood: Koramangala and the roads around it, down to Madiwala and Silk Board, in any of eighteen kinds of vehicle.
Does it save my progress?
Yes, in your browser on that computer. Settings can download a save file to carry it to another one.
